Montpellier, west of Marseille, was practically cut off from the rest of France after roads out were flooded, rail services stopped and air traffic at the international airport suspended. Several highways and many secondary roads around Lyon were cut off and trains running west were stopped by the worst floods in decades, leaving passengers stranded at the main station. |
